Algeria's Skikda oil port open as weather improves

(Reuters) - Algerian oil ports Skikda and Bejaia have reopened after bad weather forced them to close for most of last week, shipping agents said on Monday.

Last week the two ports, both in eastern Algeria, as well as the western Algerian ports of Arzew and Bethouia, were forced to close due to heavy swell and strong winds.

70% of e-mail from Asia 'spam'

Almost 70% of all electronic mail from Asia is "spam", or unsolicited advertisements, an anti-virus firm said on Friday.

The Philippines had the worst record with spam making up 88% of all e-mails, Symantec Corp said in excerpts of its Internet Threat Security Report released here.

The average percentage of e-mails sent from the Asia-Pacific region that were spam was 69%, the report added.

Google bets on Africa

Google has signed deals to supply software to students and government workers in two East African nations, in a bid to put them on the technical footing of more developed countries.

The web search leader said on Monday it had agreed to separate partnerships with the Rwandan Ministry of Infrastructure and the Kenya Education Network (KENET), which represents students and staff at 32 universities in Kenya.

Bad weather shuts S.Africa's coal export terminal

South Africa's Richards Bay Coal Terminal (RBCT) remained closed for a third straight day owing to bad weather on Tuesday, but a spokeswoman said the closure had not materially affected exports so far.

South Africa's two key outlets of Durban and Richards Bay remained shut since early Sunday, with all shipping and bunker operations stopped due to bad weather, officials said. The storms lashed the ports located in the Kwa ZuluNatal province.
