G4 setback requires new route to WTO deal

(Reuters) - Trade negotiators were forced to look for a new path on Friday to reach an elusive world trade deal after a meeting between four major trading partners ended in failure.

The collapse of talks between the United States, the European Union, India and Brazil on Thursday at an historic German palace in Potsdam was the latest of several crises in the Doha round of world trade talks, which began in November 2001.

OPEC Has No Plans to Boost Crude Oil Output, Say Libyan, Qatari Officials

(Bloomberg) -- OPEC, which supplies about two-fifths
of the world's oil, won't heed calls from consumers to increase
output for the summer driving season, officials from Libya and
Qatar said.

``We are convinced that the market is not short of
supply,'' Qatari Energy Minister Abdullah Al-Attiyah told
reporters in the Persian Gulf nation's capital Doha today.
Geopolitical risks in the Middle East and Africa are pushing oil
prices higher, rather than a lack of production, he said.

World trade talk prospects fading - Brazil expert

(Reuters) - The chances of success in the World Trade Organization's Doha round of free-trade talks are fading, Marcos Jank, president of the Brazilian Institute for International Trade Negotiations, said on Wednesday.

"We have a big risk of failure," he said at a conference organised by news and information service Agra Europe.
