UPDATE 1-Whole Foods memo said merger would avoid price war

(Reuters) - The comments were included in a complaint filed by the U.S.
Federal Trade Commission in its lawsuit challenging Whole
Foods' planned takeover of Wild Oats on grounds the deal would
hobble competition and increase prices to consumers.




The complaint was filed June 6, but portions were kept
under seal until Tuesday.

Borders Shares Cut to `Sell' as Goldman Says Buyout of Company Less Likely

(Bloomberg) -- Borders Group Inc. shares were
downgraded to ``sell'' at Goldman, Sachs & Co., which said the
odds the second-largest U.S. bookseller will be acquired have
diminished given heightened risk of an antitrust challenge.

Whole Foods Market Inc. and Wild Oats Markets Inc., the
largest and second-largest natural-foods grocers, yesterday said
the U.S. Federal Trade Commission plans to file suit to block
their proposed merger.

UPDATE 1-Coca-Cola files with regulators on Glaceau--report

(Reuters) - Citing "informed sources," Beverage Digest said the world's
largest beverage company filed a Hart-Scott-Rodino Act
notification with the U.S. Federal Trade Commission, which is
required for proposed deals of significant size.




A Coca-Cola spokesman declined to comment.

Fraud costs US consumers $1.2bn

Consumers reported over 670 000 cases of fraud and identity theft in 2006 that cost them $1.2bn in losses, the Federal Trade Commission said in its annual report on Wednesday.

For the seventh straight year, identity theft was the most common complaint, the FTC said, accounting for 36%, or 246 035, of the complaints.
