UAW says has already made concessions to Ford

(Reuters) - "It's fair to say we have given a lot," Gettelfinger told reporters, speaking at Ford's headquarters after the union and the struggling No. 2 U.S. automaker began talks on a new contract to replace a four-year deal expiring on Sept. 14.



Gettelfinger referred to the union's agreement to a recent buyout program for Ford factory workers and a 2005 deal that allowed the company to cut its costs for retiree health care.

Corporate Bond Risk Soars to 2-Year High on Bear Stearns Hedge Fund Losses

(Bloomberg) -- The risk of owning corporate bonds
soared to the highest in two years in Europe after Bear Stearns
Cos. said investors in two U.S. subprime hedge funds will get
little or no money back, credit-default swap prices show.

Contracts on 10 million euros ($13.8 million) of debt
included in Europe's iTraxx Crossover Series 7 Index jumped as
much as 36,000 euros to 324,000 euros, according to Deutsche
Bank AG. The risk premium is the highest since 2005 when General
Motors Corp. and Ford Motor Co. had their ratings cut to high
risk, high-yield.

Ford's China 2007 vehicle shipments seen up 30 pct

(Reuters) - Ford is expected to ship 300,000 to 350,000 vehicles to dealers in the country this year, up from 260,000 to 270,000 units in 2006, the source said.




Ford declined to comment on the matter.

Collins & Aikman to sell Hermosillo plant to Ross

(Reuters) - The Hermosillo plant produces interior components
exclusively for Ford Motor Co. vehicles, including the
Ford Fusion, Mercury Milan and Lincoln MKZ. Details of the sale
agreement were not disclosed, he said.

UPDATE 1-UAE funds deny interest in Jaguar, Land Rover

(Reuters) - Britain's Observer newspaper said on Sunday Mubadala
Development Co., owned by the government of Abu Dhabi, and Dubai
International Capital had asked bankers to prepare bids for one
or both of the Ford units. The report did not cite sources.




"We are not considering either," Mubadala's chief operating
officer, Waleed al-Mokarrab al-Muhairi, said.

Palladium Buying by Ford, Fortunoff, Hedge Funds May Spark Metal's Revival

(Bloomberg) -- From Ford Motor Co. to Fortunoff to
Schroders Plc, the demand for palladium is increasing fast
enough to outstrip the supply and make it this year's best
investment among precious metals.

Sales will rise 6.5 percent in 2007, according to precious
metals consultant CPM Group, after Ford, General Motors Corp.
and other automakers used 32 percent more palladium in car-
exhaust systems the past five years. Fortunoff started selling
palladium wedding bands in November and says the metal already
represents 10 percent of the market.

(Reuters) - Pipas also said fleet sales, including sales to daily rental companies, would be down this month.
