Copper Futures Decline in New York on Concern U.S. Metal Demand May Ease

(Bloomberg) -- Copper fell for the second straight
day in New York on concern that slowing growth in the U.S., the
world's second-largest consumer of the metal, will damp demand.

Orders for U.S. durable goods fell more than forecast in
May, casting doubt on the prospects for a projected increase in
business investment. Before today, copper, which sometimes moves
in line with economic growth, had gained 16 percent this year
during a global expansion.

Japan's Machine Orders Rebounded in April as Companies See Demand Growing

(Bloomberg) -- Japan's machinery orders rebounded in
April, signaling companies are optimistic demand from overseas
and at home will accelerate.

Orders rose a seasonally adjusted 2.2 percent to 1.01
trillion yen ($8.3 billion) from March, the Cabinet Office said
in Tokyo today. The median estimate of 42 economists surveyed by
Bloomberg News was for a 4.5 percent increase.

US RATE FUTURES-Gains pared by April durables data

(Reuters) - Durable goods orders in April rose 0.6 percent, just short
of forecasts for a 1.0 percent increase, but March's orders
were revised upwards. Orders ex-transportations rose by a
bigger than expected 1.5 percent.

U.S. Durable Goods Orders Rise, Home Sales Held Near Low, Reports May Show

(Bloomberg) -- Orders for durable goods in the U.S.
rose for a third month in April and sales of new homes held near
a seven-year low, a reminder that housing remains the economy's
weakest link, reports today may show.

The Commerce Department will report that new home sales
rose to an annual rate of 860,000 from 858,000 the prior month,
according to the median estimate in a Bloomberg survey of 72
economists. A separate Commerce report will show orders for
goods made to last several years increased 1 percent after a 4.3
percent jump, according to the survey median.
