White Nile lobbying removal from Sudan oil block

(Reuters) - Britain's White Nile Plc is lobbying against a decision to remove them from south Sudan's oil Block B, saying it had halted all drilling work in the swampy area.

South Sudan's industry minister, Albino Akol Akol, told Reuters in July a long-standing dispute over the massive Block B had been resolved in favour of French oil giant Total SA which held rights to the block granted by the northern government.

Crude Oil Trades Near 11-Month High After Total Cuts Exports From Angola

(Bloomberg) -- Crude oil was little changed in New
York after reaching an 11-month high yesterday after Total SA cut
exports from Angola.

Total, Europe's third-largest oil company, said output from
its 240,000-barrel-a-day Dalia field was halved by a generator
fault. Oil and gasoline also rose after Husky Energy Inc. said a
fire at its refinery in Lima, Ohio cut output by 75 percent. A
July 18 Energy Department report showed below-average U.S.
gasoline stockpiles unexpectedly fell last week.

Canadian Stocks May Climb on Oil Prices, U.S. Earnings; Suncor May Advance

(Bloomberg) -- Canadian stocks may rise for a third
day after oil prices reached an 11-month high and better-than-
expected profit reports from U.S. companies showed economic
strength in Canada's biggest export market.

Oil prices climbed in London after Total SA, Europe's third-
largest oil company, lost production at an oil field in Angola.
Bank of America Corp. and International Business Machines Corp.
reported earnings that topped analysts' forecasts.

French CAC 40 Stocks Including Total, EDF Fall; Alstom, Schneider Advance

(Bloomberg) -- French stocks including Total SA,
Europe's third-largest oil company, fell. Electricite de France
SA led utilities lower.

Alstom SA gained after the world's third-biggest maker of
power plants said fiscal first-quarter sales rose 27 percent.
Shares of Schneider Electric SA and Vinci SA also rose.

Total Is Selected to Market AED's Puffin Crude Oil Pumped From Timor Sea

(Bloomberg) -- Total SA, Europe's third-largest oil
company, won a selection process to market crude oil from AED Oil
Ltd.'s Puffin project in the Timor Sea, which is due to start
production next month.

The agreement for the marketing of Puffin North East Crude
Oil is with Total Oil Trading SA, or Totsa, Melbourne-based AED
said today in a statement to the Australian Stock Exchange. The
oil is a ``premium-quality light sweet crude,'' the company said.

Conoco, Exxon to Quit Venezuelan Oil Projects as Talks Fail, Ramirez Says

(Bloomberg) -- ConocoPhillips and Exxon Mobil Corp.
will quit oil and natural-gas projects in Venezuela after the
failure of talks with President Hugo Chavez's government, the
country's energy minister said.

The minister, Rafael Ramirez, confirmed the departure of the
companies in signing ceremonies for agreements with four
companies that will continue heavy-oil operations in the country.
They are Chevron Corp., Statoil ASA, Total SA and BP Plc. The
departure of ConocoPhillips and Exxon Mobil was disclosed late
yesterday by a person on the government side of negotiations.

European Stocks Snap Four-Day Rally; UBS, Total, Sainsbury Drop

European stocks fell, snapping four days of gains, after U.S. subprime lender New Century Financial Corp. said it doesn't have the cash to pay creditors, rattling investor confidence in equities.

UBS AG, Switzerland's biggest bank, and Societe Generale SA, the third-largest in France, paced declines by financial companies. Total SA led by energy producers lower as oil prices fell for a third day. J Sainsbury Plc dropped the most in almost 10 months on speculation a group of buyout firms may scrap takeover plans for the third-largest U.K. supermarket chain.
