UPDATE 1-MCG Capital posts higher Q2 profit; shares rise

(Reuters) - Shares of the Arlington, Virginia-based company were
trading up almost 6 percent at $14.27 in morning trade on the
Nasdaq. The shares have fallen 34 percent since the begining of
the year before Tuesday's gains.




The main positives for the quarter include
higher-than-expected dividend income, higher-than-expected net
interest margin and $8.6 million of net gains on portfolio
investments, BMO Capital Markets analyst David Chiaverini wrote
in a research note.

Dominion up on share buyback offer

(Reuters) - Dominion expects to start a modified Dutch auction self-tender by mid-July. Shareholders could tender some or all of their shares at prices from $82 to $92 per share, said the Richmond, Virginia-based company. The company then will pick a price and buy shares tendered at that level or below.




Shares of the power company were up $3.27 to $86.82 in late morning trade on the New York Stock Exchange.

U.S. hospitals try to pick up the ER pace

(Reuters) - Like the pizzeria that picks up the bill for taking too long, a Kansas City hospital offers cinema passes and a Detroit hospital system gives away major league baseball tickets to patients who wait half an hour for emergency room service.




With competition for healthcare dollars tight and complaints about care on the rise, hospitals from California to Virginia are trying to cut wait times. They pitch "quality care at a moment's notice" and "door to doc" treatment in minutes.

UPDATE 1-Sunrise Senior Living should be sold-hedge fund

(Reuters) - In a letter released Thursday, Millennium Partners LP,
which said it owns 1.3 million, or 2.5 percent, of Sunrise's
shares, called on Sunrise's board to sell, merge or restructure
the company, or to recruit new management.




It said Sunrise's business value is "north of $54 per
share," at least 30 percent higher than its Wednesday closing
price of $41.52. The market value of McLean, Virginia-based
Sunrise is roughly $2 billion.
