Most U.S. mid-sized companies not hiring -survey

(Reuters) - The news adds to evidence the U.S. economy may not grow as
robustly next year as it did last quarter, when gross domestic
product grew at an annualized rate of 3.4 percent.




Not all companies are gloomy about employment -- 47
percent expect to hire, according to the survey from CIT and
the Economist Intelligence Unit. But 44 percent of mid-sized
companies see their workforce size staying the same, and 9
percent forecast a decline.

Mexican markets hammered by U.S. economy worries

(Reuters) - MEXICO CITY, July 26 - Mexican stocks, bonds and
the peso were slammed on Thursday as weak U.S. economic data
and fears of a global credit crunch caused investors to bail
out of risky assets worldwide.




The benchmark IPC stock index slumped 3.56 percent
to 29,996.60 points, its steepest one-day fall since Feb. 27,
when tumbling Chinese shares rattled global markets.

CIT eyes change-of-control provisions to debt

(Reuters) - Speaking on a conference call, CIT CFO Joe Leone said the company is considering adding "change of control" provisions to debt that it issues. Generally, these provisions are designed to protect bond investors if a company should be acquired, particularly if the commercial and consumer lender were to sell itself to private equity investors.



CIT is leaning toward putting these provisions in new bonds that it issues on a case-by-case basis, should the market demand them, Chief Executive Jeff Peek told Reuters in an interview.
