U.S. Stocks Rebound on Earnings; Ingersoll-Rand, Home Depot Shares Advance

(Bloomberg) -- U.S. stocks rebounded from a $2.1
trillion global sell-off after better-than-forecast earnings
and takeovers eased concern that the housing slump will curb
profits.

Ingersoll-Rand Co. jumped the most in six weeks after
agreeing to sell its Bobcat machinery unit. Home Depot Inc.
jumped after Barron's said shares of the world's largest home-
improvement retailer could double in the next three years.

European Stocks Pare Gains After Home Depot Reduces Profit Forecast

(Bloomberg) -- European stocks erased earlier gains
after Home Depot Inc., the world's largest home-improvement
retailer, cut its profit forecast, citing the sale of a unit and
a weaker U.S. housing market.

Europe's Dow Jones Stoxx 600 Index slid 0.2 percent to
397.61 as of 9:39 a.m. in London. The Stoxx 50 fell 0.2 percent
and the Euro Stoxx 50, a measure for the euro region, dropped 0.3
percent.

CORRECTED - US STOCKS-Indexes rise on Home Depot buyback, GE advance

(Reuters) - NEW YORK, June 20 - U.S. stocks rose on Wednesday
as Home Depot Inc.'s plan for a $22.5 billion share
buyback underscored optimism about equity valuations, along
with the growing allure of large-cap stocks, including General
Electric Co. .




Home Depot shares led advances on both the Dow and the S&P
500, with a gain of more than 6 percent, while shares of
diversified manufacturer GE climbed 0.7 percent.

U.S. Stock-Index Futures Rise; Home Depot, Google, Yahoo Gain in Europe

(Bloomberg) -- U.S. stock-index futures advanced as
Treasury yields declined for a fourth day.

Home Depot Inc. rose after the world's largest home-
improvement retailer agreed to sell a unit and announced a share
buyback. Google Inc., owner of the world's most-used Internet
search engine, gained after Microsoft Corp. agreed to modify its
Vista operating system to address Google's complaints.

U.S. Stock-Index Futures Rise Ahead of CPI; Home Depot, Nymex Advance

(Bloomberg) -- U.S. stock-index futures rose on
takeover speculation before a consumer prices report that may
help investors gauge the outlook for interest rates.

Home Depot Inc., the world's largest home-improvement
retailer, gained in Europe after people familiar with the
negotiations said it will receive offers of about $10 billion
for its contractor-supplies unit. Nymex Holdings Inc. surged
after two people familiar with discussions said the biggest
energy market is exploring a sale.

U.S. Stock-Index Futures Advance; Home Depot, DuPont Shares Gain in Europe

(Bloomberg) -- U.S. stock-index futures gained as
some investors said this week's drop in equities was excessive,
creating opportunities to buy at reduced prices.

Home Depot Inc., the largest U.S. home improvement chain,
and DuPont Co., the third-biggest chemical company in the
country, led gains among shares that lost the most in the
previous two days. ADC Telecommunications Inc. advanced in
extended U.S. trading after the maker of phone-networking gear
said second-quarter profit quadrupled.

Falling oil, rising home sales spark rally

(Reuters) - The rally took the Dow and S&P 500 to their highest levels since February 27.

The drop in oil, which came as hopes grew for a diplomatic resolution to the standoff between Iran and Britain, helped buoy airlines and consumer-oriented shares such as home improvement chain Home Depot Inc. , which gained 2.3 percent.

U.S. Stock-Index Futures Fall After Home Depot Trails Estimates

U.S. stock-index futures fell after profit that missed analysts' estimates at Home Depot Inc., the world's largest home-improvement retailer, heightened concern that earnings growth is slowing.
Home Depot's report comes as fourth-quarter profits at Standard & Poor's 500 Index members are poised to increase less than 10 percent for the first three-month period since 2002. Intel Corp. and International Business Machines Corp. are among companies that fell short of expectations.
