German Stocks Increase, Led by ThyssenKrupp on Upgrade; BMW, Daimler Climb

(Bloomberg) -- Germany's benchmark DAX Index rose,
recovering some of yesterday's decline. ThyssenKrupp AG paced
gains after Goldman, Sachs & Co. recommended buying the stock.

Bayerische Motoren Werke AG climbed after the world's
largest maker of luxury cars said sales increased to a record
last month. Shares of DaimlerChrysler AG also increased.

Chery-built Chrysler cars aim to reach US in 30 mths

(Reuters) - The first auto built by Chery Automobile Co. for Chrysler could be exported to North America, but not the United States, said LaSorda, who made the forecast at a Beijing signing ceremony marking a strategic alliance between the two auto makers.




Chrysler -- which is being sold by DaimlerChrysler AG to Cerberus Capital Management -- and Chery will develop, manufacture and distribute Chery-made small and sub-compact cars in North America, Europe and other major automotive markets, they said.

Ingersoll-Rand, Daimler Lead Gains in World Stock Markets by Shrinking

(Bloomberg) -- Some of the best-performing shares
worldwide this year belong to companies that are beating the
stock market by getting smaller.

Temple-Inland Inc., whose products range from paper to
loaning money, Ingersoll-Rand Co., a producer of construction
equipment and trucks, and German carmaker DaimlerChrysler AG are
leading gains worldwide as they spin off or sell units to
concentrate on more profitable businesses.

DaimlerChrysler to build test fleet of electric vans

(Reuters) - Plug-in hybrids, an alternative to traditional combustion engines and strongly favored by some environmental advocates, can run on battery power alone for short trips and can be recharged with a standard electrical outlet.

DaimlerChrysler said it would combine the rechargeable battery on the Dodge Sprinter with a diesel engine for a bigger gain in fuel economy, saying that would be the first real-world test of that technology.

European shares open firmer, Daimler in focus

European shares opened firmer after strong performance in Japanese shares, and amid a slew of corporate news, while U.S. and several Asian markets are closed Monday.

The pan-European FTSEurofirst index of 300 leading shares rose 0.18 percent by 0802 GMT to 1,546.77 points.

London's FTSE 100 was up 0.3 percent, the French CAC 40 rose 2 percent and Germany's DAX gained 0.4 percent.

DaimlerChrysler shares rose 3.2 percent on news it was in talks with General Motors over the future of its ailing U.S. unit Chrysler.

European stocks gain as oil inches up, G7 in focus

European share prices rose in early trade on Friday on the back of a string of corporate news and higher oil prices, while investors eyed the Group of Seven finance ministers meeting in Germany.

A 2.2-percent rise in DaimlerChrysler shares pushed up the DJ Stoxx European auto sector index after Citigroup upgraded the shares to a "buy" from a "hold".

The pan-European FTSEurofirst index of 300 leading shares rose 0.5 percent to 1,542.74 points by 0853 GMT.

London's FTSE 100 gained 0.7 percent and the French CAC 40 and Germany's DAX rose 0.6 percent
