Asian Stocks Fall From a High; Honda, Japan Exporters Decline as Yen Gains

(Bloomberg) -- Asian stocks fell, led by Japanese
exporters, after the dollar declined to a six-week-low against
the yen amid concern the U.S. economy is slowing.

Honda Motor Co., which last year made the bulk of its sales
in North America, slid the most in six weeks. Sony Corp., the
world's biggest game-console maker, had its biggest slump in
almost a month.

Japan's Nikkei 225 Average, Topix Falls; Toyota, JFE Holdings Lead Decline

(Bloomberg) -- Japanese shares dropped, paced by
companies that rely on the U.S. market, after Caterpillar Inc.
said its profit dropped on lower North American sales. Exporters
such as Honda Motor Co. and Komatsu Ltd. led losses.

Investors also refrained from betting heavily on stocks
before the upper house election, which will be held on July 29.
The Nikkei newspaper reported yesterday Japan's ruling coalition
may lose its majority in the election, citing its own poll.

Japanese Stocks May Rise as U.S. Retail Outlook Sends Dow, S&P to Records

(Bloomberg) -- Japanese shares may rise after U.S.
retailers' better than expected sales eased concern a housing
slump will curb consumer spending in the world's biggest economy.

Sony Corp. and Honda Motor Co. may lead gains after the Dow
Jones Industrial Average had the biggest advance since 2003.

Asian Stocks Rebound From a Two-Week Low as Crude Oil Climbs, Yen Weakens

(Bloomberg) -- Asian stocks rebounded from a two-
week low after crude oil prices advanced and the yen weakened.

Woodside Petroleum Ltd., Australia's second-largest oil
explorer, gained for the first time in six days. Honda Motor Co.
rose by the most in almost three weeks, leading gains among
Japanese exporters, as concern eased that the value of their
overseas sales will be eroded.

Harley surges on Honda talk; skeptics abound

(Reuters) - CHICAGO, June 22 - The shares and options of motorcycle maker Harley-Davidson Inc. surged on Friday amid speculation Honda Motor Co. Ltd. was looking to buy the U.S. motorcycle maker.



A spokesman for Harley-Davidson declined to comment on the talk and a call requesting comment from the U.S. unit of Honda was not immediately returned.

Honda May Develop New Small Cars to Suit India Market, Challenge Suzuki

(Bloomberg) -- Honda Motor Co., Japan's second-
biggest automaker, is studying developing small cars with
engines of less than 1.2 liters to woo buyers in India and other
countries.

The small cars will also enjoy tax advantages in India,
where they make up 75 percent of the market, Masahiro Takedagawa,
chief executive of Honda Siel Cars India Ltd. said in an
interview at its headquarters in Tokyo yesterday.

Japan's Nikkei Stock Average, Topix Index Rise; Toyota, Honda Lead Gain

(Bloomberg) -- Japan's Nikkei 225 Stock Average
rose 165.99, or 0.9 percent, to 18,137.48 at 9:02 a.m. in Tokyo.
The broader Topix index added 14.64, or 0.8 percent, to
1787.58.

Toyota Motor Corp. and Honda Motor Co. led the advances.

Japan Shares Rise on Oil, Nickel Prices, Weak Yen; Mitsubishi Corp. Gains

(Bloomberg) -- Japanese stocks climbed for a second
day. Trading companies including Mitsubishi Corp. led gains
after the price of oil rose to a nine-month high, while nickel
climbed the most in 10 weeks.

Honda Motor Co. led exporters higher after the yen fell to
the lowest in more than four years against the dollar, boosting
the value of their U.S. sales.

Asian Stocks Advance, Led by Canon, on Yen Weakness; BHP and Takeda Climb

(Bloomberg) -- Asian stocks rose the most in eight days as a decline in the yen boosted the value of exports to Europe. Canon Inc. and Honda Motor Co. gained.

``The trend of a weaker yen won't change for at least another year,'' said Masanaga Kono, who helps manage about $14 billion at Societe Generale Asset Management (Japan) Co. in Tokyo. ``Automaker and technology stocks will benefit.''

Asian Stocks Fall on U.S. Economy Concern; Honda, Samsung Drop

Asian stocks were set for the first back-to-back drop in two weeks, led by companies that sell to the U.S. after consumer confidence and home prices fell in the region's largest export market.
Honda Motor Co., which had more than half of its sales in the U.S. and Canada last fiscal year, and Samsung Electronics Co. fell.
