(Reuters) - AT&T and America Movil, owned by Mexican billionaire Carlos Slim, are in exclusive talks with Pirelli to buy a majority stake in Olimpia, which controls Telecom Italia with an 18 percent stake, for around 4.5 billion euros.
America Movil tried and failed to buy Telecom Italia's Brazil assets -- mobile company TIM Brasil and a stake in fixed-line operator Brazil Telecom -- last year.
