Spill shuts 10,000 bpd BP Alaska oil output: report

(Reuters) - The Daily News quoted a BP spokesman who said less than a gallon of crude oil was spilled from the 24-inch diameter pipeline and the oil was contained on a gravel pad.




BP workers are replacing an 80-foot section of the flow line, which carries produced crude oil, water and gas from a well to a separation center. The repairs are expected to be complete by Monday.

G4 setback requires new route to WTO deal

(Reuters) - Trade negotiators were forced to look for a new path on Friday to reach an elusive world trade deal after a meeting between four major trading partners ended in failure.

The collapse of talks between the United States, the European Union, India and Brazil on Thursday at an historic German palace in Potsdam was the latest of several crises in the Doha round of world trade talks, which began in November 2001.

London Stock Exchange to Buy Italian Bourse for $2.2 Billion, People Say

(Bloomberg) -- London Stock Exchange Plc agreed to
buy Italy's Borsa Italiana SpA, three people familiar with the
plan said, as increased competition forces the world's equity
markets to consolidate.

The U.K. exchange, Europe's third-largest, will offer about
1.6 billion euros ($2.2 billion) for the Italian market, said the
people, who declined to be identified before the release of a
statement. A holding company will be formed with seven directors
from the LSE and five from the Borsa. LSE Chief Executive Officer
Clara Furse will head the company while the Borsa's chief Massimo
Capuano will be deputy CEO, the people said.
