Philippine Peso Advances to Near Seven-Year High As Teves Sees More Gains

(Bloomberg) -- The Philippine peso rose for a
second day to near a seven-year high, after Finance Secretary
Gary Teves said the currency may extend gains.

The government will not impose capital controls to curb the
peso's appreciation, Teves said yesterday. The government
prefers ``a gradual appreciation'' of the peso to give exporters
enough time to adjust, Teves said.
