Building boom lifts South Africa's coal prices

(Reuters) - Cement demand for South Africa's construction boom has boosted the domestic price for its washed coal up to export price levels, producers say.

"For the first time in recent memory, the prices for domestic steam coal Free On Mine are higher than the price which we receive from Richards Bay Coal Terminal, taking into account the additional transportation costs," Bisichi Mining Plc chairman Michael Heller said.
