UPDATE 2-Analog Devices posts lower net on higher R&D

(Reuters) - Analog Devices said that it expects its third-quarter gross
margin to be about the same as in the second quarter,
reflecting its plan to hold back on chip production at its
factories. It expects to boost output in the fourth quarter.




Analog Devices' gross margin in the quarter, according to
generally accepted accounting principles, was 57 percent,
including $4.8 million as a result of stock-based compensation
and acquisition-related expenses, or 0.8 percent.
