Wheat Falls After U.S. Crop Conditions Improve for Fourth Straight Week

(Bloomberg) -- Wheat in Chicago fell as the
condition of the U.S. winter crop improved for the fourth
straight week after wet weather helped plants recover from a
freeze in early April.

About 59 percent of the winter-wheat crop was rated good or
excellent as of May 20, compared with 58 percent the previous
week, the U.S. Department of Agriculture said. Temperatures fell
to 17 degrees Fahrenheit (minus 8 Celsius) from Kansas to Ohio
on April 7. Fields in western Kansas may yield as much as 60
bushels an acre.
